HUD Guide to Reverse Mortgages
$ 3 Billion Alloted by Government to help homeowners . . .
The U.S. Treasury will distribute $2 billion in funds through a previously announced Housing Finance Agency program aimed at helping jobless homeowners struggling to make mortgage payment. HUD will launch a $1 billion emergency loan program to help homeowners at risk of foreclosure, who have had a significant drop in income because of a layoff, under-employment or a medical condition. The emergency program will be administered through several state and non-profit entitles and will offer homeowners zero-percent interest rate loans of up to $50,000 for up to 24 months. HUD is expected to announce more details and program specifics in coming weeks.
